Dearborn Public Library hosts dozens of events in March

Published March 2, 2026

The Dearborn Public Library will recognize March Reading Month, Dearborn Public Schools spring break, and more with a full schedule of programs at the Henry Ford Centennial Library (HFCL), 16301 Michigan Ave, and the Bryant Branch Library, 22100 Michigan Ave. From bestselling authors and creative workshops, to hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities, and family-friendly events, author talks, and additional on-site programs, Dearborn Public Library has ensured that March is packed with programming for all.

March is Reading Month
Beginning March 1, 2026, Dearborn readers of all ages can earn prizes at both library locations, while supplies last. To earn prizes, readers must use a reading tracker and show that they have met their goals. Kids and teens can get a free book, while adult patrons can qualify for a free library beanie. Reading trackers are available at both HFCL and Bryant.

Library staff wearing special buttons will also provide visitors with book recommendations all month long.

Several exploratory activities and classes will be held at HFCL, including

  • March 5, 2026: STEAM: The Science of Curling, where tweens learn the physics behind the sport.

  • March 7: Arabic Language and Culture Classes, led by Mohamed Hameed. Registration required.

  • March 9: Little Explorers: Canvas Art for infants, toddlers, and caregivers.

  • March 11: Blazing Trails with Firefighter Jen, celebrating Women’s History Month.

  • March 12: Creative Crochet Collective: Join other novice crafters (and more experienced friends too!) in sharing tips, tricks, and projects.

Most programs are free, however some require registration. Locals who live, work, own property, or attend school in Dearborn are encouraged to check that their Dearborn Public Library card is current or obtain one for free at HFCL or Bryant.

March author talks
The month kicks off with author and critic Paul Fischer discussing his works, The Last Kings of Hollywood: Coppola, Spielberg, and Lucas and The Battle for the Soul of American Cinema, exploring the impact of Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg on American filmmaking. The event, part of the library’s Oscar programming, will be offered both in person at the HFCL and virtually on March 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

On March 12, literary agent Alia Hanna Habib will host a talk from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the HFCL on her book, Take it From Me: An Agent’s Guide to Building a Nonfiction Writing Career from Scratch. Registration is required.

March FOLD Sale
The Friends of the Library Dearborn (FOLD) will also host its monthly Book and Media Sale on Wednesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring hobbies, arts, crafts, and sports materials. Proceeds from the monthly sale directly support library programs and services.

Library Spring Break
Teens and tweens can look forward to after-hours activities during spring break for Dearborn area schools. Programs include the Teen Lock-In: Among Us LIVE on Friday, March 27, and Escape Room: Video Game Edition on Saturday, March 28.
