The West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority (WDDDA) is proud to announce the official opening of its newest public space, a vibrant pocket park designed to support community connection, local gathering, and ongoing urban activation.
Located at 22054 Michigan Ave in downtown West Dearborn, this transformative park offers an accessible, flexible retreat for both daily visits and community events.
Key features of the newly revamped space include a restored mural and water fountain, native landscaping, a new circular gathering area, and ambient lighting.
To welcome the autumn season, local business Flower Boy decorated the park with stunning fall decor as the park’s first seasonal installment, creating a picturesque backdrop for visitors to gather and take memorable photos.
Launched in tandem with the third annual Dearborn Coffee Week, the new site offers an inviting venue for residents and guests to relax, gather, and enjoy local brews. It also provides a flexible, long-term space for future pop-up events, seasonal activities, and cultural showcases. Introducing this versatile space during a major community celebration highlights the WDDDA’s commitment to expanding and diversifying its public areas, ensuring accessible and varied environments for community members, local entrepreneurs, and visitors.
Tahrik Alcodray, Chair of the West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority, stated, "Transforming this once-underutilized pocket park into a vibrant, flexible gathering space reflects the West DDDA’s dedication to building dynamic environments for our community. By creating places that bring residents together and support local entrepreneurs, we are strengthening the heart of our downtown. Celebrating this revitalization during Dearborn Coffee Week perfectly highlights the energy and connection we envision for West Dearborn."
This milestone achievement was made possible through the financial support of the West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority.
Lara Rayshouny, Program Manager for the East & West DDDAs, stated, "We wanted to design a space that feels like a natural extension of our local storefronts; somewhere you can step outside with your morning brew, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy the rhythm of West Dearborn. Seeing this park come to life right in time for Dearborn Coffee Week shows how space activation fuels economic vitality."
To celebrate the opening, members of the public, local business owners, and community leaders are invited to explore the space and experience its inaugural fall setup.
