Detroit, Dearborn to host fifth annual Community Block Party Sept. 19

Published Sept. 14, 2026

Detroit and Dearborn residents will gather Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, for the fifth annual Dearborn x Detroit Community Block Party, a free community event that brings residents from both cities together for free food, games, activities, live entertainment, and access to community resources.

The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in Detroit and Dearborn’s Aviation Subdivision, between Miller Rd and Tireman Ave at Littlefield St and Esper Blvd.

The annual block party provides an opportunity for residents, families, community organizations, and local partners from Detroit and Dearborn to connect and strengthen relationships across the two communities. The event will also feature neighborhood resources and activities for residents of all ages.

“Strong neighborhoods are built through connection and partnership," said Mayor Mary Sheffield. "Creating opportunities for Detroiters and our neighbors in Dearborn to come together strengthens the relationships that make our communities more connected and resilient. I am pleased to join Mayor Hammoud and residents from both cities for the fifth annual community block party and celebrate the continued partnership between Detroit and Dearborn.”

“Dearborn and Detroit share more than a border," said Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud. "We share neighborhoods, families, businesses, and a future. This block party celebrates those connections and the kind of community we are continuing to build, one where the lines that once divided us become opportunities to bring people together. Every year, we’re proud to gather with our Detroit neighbors and celebrate a future shaped by openness, connection, and a shared sense of belonging,”

The fifth annual block party continues the communities’ shared tradition of bringing residents together and providing opportunities to connect with neighbors and local resources.

The event is free and open to all residents. For more information, visit Dearborn.gov/DearbornxDetroit
