The commission promotes seasonal and holiday displays through the spring, fall, and winter Dearborn Aglow programs, and outstanding property maintenance through the summer Residential Standard of Excellence and Business Standard of Excellence awards. It also encourages environmental stewardship through the Sustainable Gardens awards and through programs with the Dearborn Public Schools.

Mayor Hammoud appoints all members of the City Beautiful Commission.
